Side Seeker — Expedition Gear
Your Defender Even better
The Gullwing kit replaces the original side window with a 5 mm aluminium panel on gas struts. Open, it gives you a sheltered work surface. Closed, it follows the line of the vehicle.

The workshop
A part, not an accessory
The Defender was built to be driven, not lived in. Tight cabin, minimal ventilation, a rear door you have to swing wide open in the rain just to reach a saucepan. Anyone who sleeps in one ends up rigging something.
Side Seeker started as one of those rigs — and then as the decision to do it properly: drawn in CAD, sheet laser cut, stainless hardware sized for corrugated tracks, industrial-grade thermolacquering. A kit you fit yourself, onto the frame already on the vehicle, without a body shop.

Stage 01 — Design
Drawn on the vehicle
Radii measured straight off a Tdci frame — 70 mm at the top, 50 mm at the bottom — then taken into CAD. No dimension copied from a catalogue: the part follows what is actually on the body.
-
Stage 02 — Prototype
Reworked until it shut properly
Several iterations on hinge position, strut travel, rubber gasket shape and perimeter clearance, until the hatch closed cleanly and the seal held along the full length of the gasket.
-
Stage 03 — Validation
Driven before it was sold
Fitted to a vehicle in regular use and put through rain, track vibration and pressure washing before it went on sale.

Made where
it gets used
Every kit is assembled, checked and packed here, by hand. Got a question about your vehicle? The answer comes from the person who drew the part.
